The pros and cons of Swiss living

Hooray for new link ups!! Michelle over at The American Resident has started a link up called "Where I live." It's not just for us silly expats either. It's about loving where you live and wanting to share it with the world. I'm a day late with my post but better late than never right?

I know most people are shocked to find out that sometimes living in the land of chocolate and scary efficiency isn't all it's cracked up to be.
There are pros and cons to living basically any where in the world and Switzerland is no exception.

It's been a minute...

Hi! Remember me? Tatiana the expat blogger that constantly thinks "today is the day that I get back on the blogging bandwagon. Today is the day I get myself sorted out and finally finish all my draft posts and put all my lovingly laid plans for this space into action."

Here's the thing, I can think those things all I want but in reality if you don't actually DO anything about the things you are thinking of doing then nothing gets done. Go figure.

So here I am, in the middle of April finally admitting to myself that thinking all these things isn't good enough, I should probably actually do them.

So here I am, actually writing for the first time in a while and you know what?

It feels good!

A bit of a struggle, I feel out of practice, rusty if you will, but it's a nice feeling.

So what HAVE I been doing with all my time when I was saying I was going to write but was lying to myself?

Sh*t expats don't talk about...

Usually before people make huge life changes there is some level of discussion. Some conversations about how things are going to go. How this change will affect your life and the lives of those who love and care about you. How this massive life change will change the course of your life and the life of the person you're dragging along for the ride. Usually.
If you're Johnathan and I, the two idiots who moved to Switzerland in 30 days, exactly none of that happened. We didn't even discuss if he would take the job or not. Honestly. We never actually talked about whether or not he should take the job. It was a forgone conclusion that when a special department of the UN calls you say "yes I'll be there in 30 days!"
There was plenty we didn't talk about before we moved. Hell, we didn't even know when the national holiday was (surprise, it was the day after we landed!) We felt pretty irresponsible for a loooong time. We met a lot of expats who seemed to ha…
