In exactly 35 days I will turn 29. I don't know who's more freaked out by it, me or my mother. This means in 400 days I turn 30. Jeebus! For a while I've been seeing 30 before 30 lists all over the interwebz and the blogosphere. I noticed them on pinterest too. Interesting. 30 things to do before turning 30. Sounds easy enough. It's NOT a bucket list. It's a to-do list. Okay okay bucket lists are to-do lists but I don't like thinking of this in terms of things to do before the end of my life. No. I have the attention span of a 2-year-old in a room full of sparkly things.
Unless you're my godson...then nuts to the sparkly things, where Thomas the Tank engine!?
Bucket lists have a "finalness" about them that I don't like. So to me this isn't a bucket list, it's a 400 day to do list.
Creating this 30 before 30 list with best friend (she has a list too...go look) has been a real exercise in focusing on me and trying to prevent a loss of self.
"What are you talking about Tatiana? Loss of self? That sounds too deep for me!"
It's simple really, a year and a half ago we left our life in Canada so John could play a staring roll in "Johnathan: The UPU employee and international man about town!" My life was put on hold and it's very easy to get overshadowed by the sparkle that is John and his career (yeah I totally called him sparkly on the internet....) So this is my effort to not get lost in the shuffle.
I have 400 days to accomplish the following:
3. Get my third tattoo (I can hear your sighing heavily from here mom)
4. Go on a hike requiring an overnight.
- To Kill a Mockingbird
- Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
- Catcher in the Rye
- The 39 Steps
- A Christmas Carol
- Pride and Prejudice
- Are you there God it's me Margret?
- Flowers for Algernon
- The Great Gatsby
18. Write my book the Stephen King way (1000 words a day until you have your book)
23. Write a letter to Juliet in Verona
29. Go to the Mediterranean
- Learn to play a song on the guitar.
