I'm a sucker for challenges that involve a goal in an arbitrary amount of days.
50,000 words in 30 days
1 photo a day for 365 days
30 before 30
101 things in 1001 days
14 things in 2014
I love this kind of thing. It feeds more need for lists and finishing things on said list. I'm pretty competitive so minute I hear the word "challenge" I'm all over it. Even if it's not necessarily something that involves someone being a winner. I like to think of my self as a winner if I complete one of these challenges. Yes I realize how ridiculous that sounds. It makes me a nightmare to play board games with to be honest.
Another challenge fell in my lap this morning. 100 happy days.
I stared at those words for a while. I'm as mean and as negative as they come sometimes. Really. I can build a never ending cycle of negativity like it's an Olympic sport sometimes. So being challenged to focus on the happy for 100 days...well if I may quote the wise words of Wayne and Garth "GAME ON!!"
So the concept is a simple one as according to the website. Spend 100 days showing the world what makes you happy either on instagram, facebook, tumblr or twitter. Make sure you use the hashtag #100HappyDays. Complete the 100 days, they creators send you a little booklet of your 100 happy days as a prize if you will.
oooooooo a gold star...kind of.
There is a catch though. There's always a catch isn't there.
The catch is, this isn't easy. Nope, it's not. 100 straight days of sharing a happy thing with the world is kind of a daunting task. 100 days from now is April 29th. That's like....spring! Eek. According to the website 71% of the people who try this fail. Wow that's a lot. The main reason cited is "lack of time." Yeah I know I don't get it either. How can someone not have time to show the world one thing that makes them happy. One happy moment. Even on the crappiest days there are happy moments (wow...that's like one of the most grown up things I've ever typed.)
It takes all of 30 seconds. If that. Trust me I started today and it took all of 15 seconds to post my photo to instagram.
So I'm going to make time to document and share happy moments over the next 100 days. You can follow along on instagram if you'd like.
