A thank you to the exes

I'm a big believer in the power of saying thank you. I am usually pretty put out when people don't say thank you (still waiting on a thank you for a baby gift I recently gave.) I was looking at my scrapbooks the other day and they are filled with people who no longer play an active role in my life but they're just as important to how I have evolved as a person and I think they deserve to be thanked. There also people who were in my life for a moment but made a HUGE impact that changed my journey in some way.

To Ex Boyfriend - Thank you for telling me I wasn't marriage material. I met John 2 months later. Thank you for marrying someone that wasn't me so I could marry someone that wasn't you.

To my Ex 6th grade teacher - Thank you for making me love Language Arts. You changed the course of my entire life.

To my Ex Math Teacher - Thank you for finally explaining to me in a way I could understand how to multply and divide fractions. You made math easy and dare I say it fun for me for the first time and only time in my life.

To my Ex high school World Issues Teacher - Thank you for letting me be too smart for my own good in your class.

To my Ex High school history teacher - Thank you for teaching history the way you did. I studied history in University because of you.

To my Ex Academic Advisor #1 - Thank for saying the following words, "These are the last failing grades you will ever receive."

To my Ex Academic Advisor #2 - Thank you for saying the following words, "That's the smartest thing ever said in my office."

To my Ex Jive dance instructors - Thank you for helping John and I communicate in a different way. Also thank you for giving us something we can look back on and smile and for giving us something to show off at weddings.

To my Ex Rugby coach - Thank you for making me try harder than everyone else. Thank you for making the rest of the team hit me harder. Thank you for telling me I can basically do anything if I want to. Thank you for awakening Jam Buster years before I knew she existed.

To my Ex landlord - Thank you for being amazing in general. Thank you for making my first experience of not living under my parents roof awesome. Thank you for being the photographer at our wedding. You have no idea how often I look at our wedding pictures.

To my Ex English prof #1 - Thank you for letting me wax poetic about Johnathan Swift and teaching me how to make gunpowder.

To my Ex English prof #2 - Thank you for telling me I was smart enough to go to Grad school and being shocked when you found out how poorly I had done in my first semester.

To my Ex English prof #3 - Thank you for being a friggin incredibly hard marker.

To my Ex History prof #1 - Thank you for letting me work on my own in your seminar course.

To my Ex History prof #2 - Thank you for actually believing me when I told you I emailed my assignment but it bounced back.

To my Ex Jr. high best friend - Thank you for living life fearlessly. I think of your often and miss you and hope you're doing amazingly well at what ever it is that you decided to do with your life.

To my Ex boss # 1 - Thank you for giving me my first out of University job.

To my Ex boss #2 - Thank you for making me feel like the whole world would collapse if I didn't work for you.
To my Ex boss #3 - Thank you for showing me what not to do when it comes to being in charge.
To my current boss - Thank you for saying thank you.
